We are a coalition of Black professionals—and diversely ranging allies—who stand in our commitment to positing authentic Black voices centrally in the work of creating equitable employment access within fashion industries for talented Black individuals.
Our founders
Kibwe Chase-Marshall
Kibwe spent a decade within some of 7th Ave.’s most influential brands (Michael Kors, Isaac Mizrahi, Oscar de la Renta) working as an apparel and accessories designer before pivoting into the industry’s editorial sector as a writer and market editor for a host of digital outlets (fashionista.com, elle.com, paparmag.com). In 2018 he published a landmark equity-action proposal in the Business of Fashion and has worked tirelessly since to advocate for the community of Black fashion professionals.
Jason Campbell
Jason is a stylist, writer, and brand strategist who calls the globe his office. He has worked to aesthetically elevate the images of high-profile individuals and brands alike, as well as published landmark pieces related to the industry’s evolving inclusion dialogue.
We matter.
On June 15th 2020—amid both a global pandemic and an American reckoning with legacies of racial inequality—250 Black fashion professionals put forth an actionable plan, The Kelly Initiative, poised to bring greater visibility to their experiences within industry and actively posit solutions via which their long-overdue equitable access to employment opportunities can be obtained.
